April 1st and NHM Contractual staff

April 1st is the fool's day.

April 1st is the break-up day for all directly recruited contractual staff in National Health Mission. Every year the term is getting renewed since 2005.

With the effect and impact of coronavirus, both regular and contractual staff are working putting themselves at work.

The staff nurse is working for a salary less than 15000. Who will take care of their family if something happens to them during this tenure?


All staff will not have vehicle home pick up and drop facilities to be provided to the staff during this process.

Being contractual doesn't mean, contractual staff or less qualified than regular ones. Contractual staff during the month of April fight for school fees. Just because you are contractual staff doesn't mean children have to be derived from the best of the schools.

The government looking at the current scenario should not give a break up on 1st April. Contractual staff at the surveillance unit, laboratory technician, pharmacist, staff nurse, contractual doctors will work to ensure the Government succeeds in overcoming like this pandemic, endemic other ..emics.

Contractual staff contributed to society in reducing the IMR, reducing the MMR, controlling the TB, eradicating polio, fighting against HIV and etc.. What they have got in return. with the skyrocketing living standards, salaries paid is less compared to the same working category staff. Equal pay for equal work should not remain as a dream just quoting the, life insurance, social security measures.


For upgrading and updating the primary health care service Government must ensure that there is no job uncertainty. When you live in the fear of losing the job, you will see the degradation of performance and quality of work. Along with recruiting the new ones, observe the people already in the system. All these years given training will come in handy.

Though this is not an opportunity for demanding or negotiating, I request on behalf of the contractual staff of NHM to look forward to improving the condition of the contractual staff.

Corona Virus does not make any difference between regular and contractual staff. So kindly ensure all are provided with things as per standard guidelines. Utilize the managers and consultants with orders. Though they do not sit at home seeing this, they will be at the field and work alongside the officers. Also, those who are ailing, sick will take rest, and don't terminate them during this health and financial crisis.
