Recent visit few thoughts
People come together in large number to express the feeling of freedom.
This is the holy place lying in the western ghats of chikmagalore. River Tunga badhra flows in this region. Place is where natural enemies became kind to protect the other from the pain (snake protecting the frog). Place is famous for its centuries old goddess temple. Lot of rock work is happening in this temple at present.
People of this place now a days are under pressure. Naxalites and police virtually made the life miserable. In this place you can see the single head “malayala brahma!”
Temple sculpture was beautiful. Vishnu’s avatars were clearly depicted on one corner. Elephants and lions were guarding the every door. 4 down layers of the temple were decorated with different animals. Sacred bull was on the top floor facing 4 sides.
Function normally starts in the evening. There was large participation from the children. Huge audience supported the active participants. The place is however near by the land of “YAKSHAGANA”.
Dark night, no stars in the sky. Tube lights were arranged on both the sides of the road to fight the darkness. Outside it was raining.
Temple premises kept me for quite a long time. Of course every moment is precious observing something new, people walk, talk, laugh, funny discussion. People crossing the bridge holding slippers/shoes in hand.
Sanskrit discussion between the master and the pupils. Women participants. Master is not free from angry look when nice discussion interrupted by the noise.
