Paternity Leave and discrimination
Paternity leave is given to the male staff. It is given to the maximum of 2 live children with pay. It can be availed with in the 6 months of delivery of the child by the wife. It can be availed even during the adoption of the children.
Expenditure:
Mother bears of the pain of the baby, but father bears the pain of the expenditure during and after the delivery. It gives the time free from the work to arrange money for the expenditure during the delivery. In to days nuclear family it becomes very important to stay to arrange the drugs for the mother and the child.
Moral support:
During and after the delivery wife likes the presence of the husband as a moral support. She wish her husband to be present during the hospital to take care of herself and newly born.
Paternity leave is the right of all the male who became father in their life time Just like the Maternity Leave is granted to the female. In India there is gender discrimination followed with reference to the leaves. There is no clarity on issue of paternity leave to the employees working in the contractual service.
One national scheme gives the paternity leave for 7 days, another give for 15 days and one scheme doesn't give at all. Across India number of days of leave must be same. And first and foremost there must be paternity leave provision in all the National and state level schemes .
