Pradesh, India.

He is an 5 times national
badminton champion of India
from 1996 to 2000. He won All England Badminton
Championship in 2001. 3 times he represented India in Thomas
cup tournament. He won SAARC badminton gold medal in 1996.
P Gopichand was honored with
Arjuna

Khel Rajiv
Gandhi Ratna Award 2001.
Padmashri in
2005 and
Dronacharya
award
He is the man who changed his passion from
cricket to badminton. He created a niche for himself and for Indian badminton in
the world badminton arena.
In Olympic he was trainer of the Indian badminton contingent and he was the beside the players.
He was holding a notebook/logbook/diary/ in his hand. Every time break was
taken during the match, he guided the players. He coached them on field how to
play, he taught the tactics to overcome the opponent, he drawn the match
strategy then and there.
He is a example for other sports on why Indian our own senior players be taken as coaches and trainers.
He is an Indian player, he played for India,
he knows the players of India.
Being played internationally he is the best person to coach our badminton stars
rather than some foreigner.
I hope all the games authorities
and bodies in our country must give preference to the players of our land.
Players must be given an opportunity to train the upcoming sports candidates
with the motive of winning a medal at Olympics no more just participation.
